There is great interest shown by citizens for the Pollution Vehicle Withdrawal Plan, which is accepting applications from yesterday, Monday, December 6th.

According to Giannis Nikolaidis, director of the Road Transport Department (TOM) of the Ministry of Transport who spoke to Citizen 107.6 and 97.6, "Interested parties will be able to submit their applications online, until December 20, 2021, while applications will be considered based on the age of the vehicle and not as a priority based on the date of application. According to Mr. Nikolaidis, the amounts that will be allocated for the purpose of withdrawing an old vehicle and replacing it with a new vehicle range from € 7.500 to € 12.000 and are a total of 4 million euros for the first year of a total of four years, raised by the European Structural and Investment Funds.

Mr. Nikolaidis stated that "apart from hybrid and electric vehicles, a new subsidy plan for electric bicycles will be announced in the near future". Regarding the amounts, he noted that if there are more applications compared to some others, amounts can be transferred, thus increasing the amount. Simply put, if the beneficiaries choose to apply for the purchase of a car and not an electric bicycle, then money will be transferred from the bicycle fund, in order to increase the number of beneficiaries.

Asked if it also concerns used vehicles, Mr. Nikolaidis explained that the current plan concerns only new vehicles, however on December 20 there will be an announcement of a new electric drive plan and there will be the possibility to buy a used vehicle.
