The Fire Department was called to respond to 29 fires from December 23 until today, the press representative of the Service, Andreas Kettis, reported to Trito.
Most of the fires, Mr. Kettis pointed out, occurred in urban areas, in an effort to create better heating conditions in homes.
Referring to gas heaters, Mr. Kettis called on citizens to be especially careful and in case of leakage to close the valve.
He also pointed out that power sockets should NOT be connected to other power sockets or overloaded with energy-consuming devices.
