Delegations of the Associations of Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Cyprus Army (SAKS & SYKS), participated in the 128th General Assembly of the European Organization of Military Associations and Guilds (Euromil), held in Madrid, Spain, on October 26-27, 2023.
According to an announcement by the Associations of Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Cyprus Army, during the first day of work, there was a discussion on the doctrine of the uniformed citizen and its application in Spain.
During the second day of work, among other things, there was a presentation on the role of women in peace and security. This was followed by the presentation of national reports, Euromil member links, as well as regional meetings and discussions, in working groups.
The first issue, for the Associations of Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers, was the continued occupation of 37% of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and the presence of Turkish forces, with an aggressive disposition.
In the working groups that participated afterwards, the SAKS and SYKS, focused on the common threats and challenges, which the armed forces of the countries of the south are called upon to face, such as dealing with international terrorism and the migration crisis, threats that appear, more strongly, with the ongoing events in the Middle East.
