The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for fairly high temperatures for today, Monday. The yellow warning will be in effect from 12 noon until 5 pm.

Detailed weather forecast

Seasonal low pressure and hot gas mass affect the area.

Today, after the local fog and low cloud cover have cleared, the weather in most areas of the island will become mainly clear with temporarily increased cloudiness. However, in the mountainous areas and possibly in the interior, clouds that will develop during the midday hours and after are expected to give isolated rains, without excluding the occurrence of an isolated short storm. The winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and gradually until the afternoon in the southwest, on the south and east coasts, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will generally be a little rough, although in the south and east in the morning it will be calm to a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees inland, around 33 on the west coast, around 35 on the rest of the coast and around 32 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, locally increased low clouds will be observed, while later and during the dawn hours, local sparse fog or mist is expected to form. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest and locally variable, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain a little rough in the west and north, however in the south and east it will become calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 24 degrees inland and on the coast and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Tuesday, the weather will be mainly clear but also particularly warm. In the mountainous areas during the midday hours and after, locally increased cloudiness will be observed which may give isolated rain.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will be mainly clear but also particularly warm.

The temperature will gradually rise until Thursday, to fluctuate significantly above the average climatic values of the season.
