DISY MP Andreas Kyprianou, AKEL MP Nikos Kettiros and the head of the DIKO municipal team in Limassol, Neophytos Charalas, discussed the controversy over the Auditor General and his responsibilities at noon and something.

Initially, the AKEL MP called on the Government Representative and the Government to respond on the merits in relation to all the scandals, while noting that "from the beginning they did not want the involvement of the Auditor General, although institutionally it is his job".

Mr. Charalambidis when he took the floor said that it is not a question of supporting or not the investments, but we want to support even the same program that the Government abolished, meaning that this will be done in the right context. He reminded that the Audit Office is independent and has the authority to control the economy of the entire Republic of Cyprus.

Asked by the DISY MP about what the Government Spokesman said, he replied that the Auditor General's job is to do financial control in the State and not to make political decisions. He referred to the way in which the Auditor General publishes his reports, talking about a selection of issues, which cover others.

The tone of the discussion was raised when reference was made to the revelations of Al Jazeera, with Mr. Kyprianou stating that it concerned an AKEL MP, while Mr. Kettiros replied that it concerned the Council of Ministers, which took the decisions. He even referred to the President of the Republic, accusing him of having a law firm. From DIKO, Mr. Charalambidis said that the Auditor General does not make political decisions and his report is not confidential.

Controversy also erupted over the trip of President Anastasiadis to the Seychelles, which, according to AKEL, was not investigated by the Auditor General, while at some point K. Kyprianou called on Mr. Kettiros to keep his composure.
