Four people on board an unmanned vessel, which was spotted 35 nautical miles off Paphos, were taken to land on Sunday while one of them, who was reportedly suffering from a health problem, was airlifted to the TAEP of GN Paphos.
According to a representative of the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, information was received on Sunday that a wooden boat about 10 meters long was spotted around 13:00, 35 nautical miles southwest of Paphos and was unmanned.
Akatos of the Port Maritime Police went to the spot around 15:00 Sunday afternoon where the unruly boat with four people on board was spotted.
At around 19:00 on Sunday, the three passengers were safely transported to Limanaki in Kato Paphos, while for the fourth, who was reportedly suffering from a health problem, an air transport operation was set up to transport him to the Department of Accidents and Emergencies of General Paphos.
Specifically, according to a statement by the KSED, the National Plan "NEARCHOS" was implemented by mobilizing the boat EVAGORAS and a speedboat of the Port & Maritime Police as well as the PATH IOANNIDIS and a helicopter of the 460 Search-Rescue Squadron (460 MED) of the GEEF with a specialized nurse of the Ambulance Service of OKYPY.
"One of the 4 people was transported by the 460 MED helicopter to the Paphos Hospital due to problems he was experiencing," it added.
