A meeting on the matter that arose with the Central Prisons was convened for the afternoon by President Anastasiades.
At the meeting set for half past six, issues that are current and concern the responsibilities of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order will be discussed, according to a written statement by Deputy Government Spokesperson Niovis Parisinou.
The meeting will be attended by the Attorney General, the Assistant Attorney General, the Minister of Justice and Public Order, the Minister of Transport, the Chief of Police, the Director of Central Prisons and the Deputy Director of Electromechanical Services.
The Director of Prisons, Anna Aristotelous, in the last few days made statements about an attempt to deconstruct the prisons and had requested the publication of the results of the investigation that followed her complaints about the monitoring of her and the deputy director's telephone conversations. A senior Police officer was suspended for the case.
