A weak low pressure system is prevailing in the area, while successive disturbances will affect the island at intervals until Friday. From Thursday, the atmosphere will favor the transport of dust.
Today the weather will initially be partly cloudy and locally mainly cloudy, with the possibility of isolated rain, mainly in western areas. Gradually, however, the phenomena will expand and local rains and isolated storms are expected, with the possibility of small hail in a storm. Snowfall is not ruled out on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow southwest to west, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, although locally in the morning they will be weak, 3 Beaufort. In the afternoon, in windward coastal areas they will blow temporarily to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough to rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the north coast, around 20 on the southeast and east coasts, around 18 on the rest of the coasts and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight the weather will be, in the western half of the island, temporarily mainly cloudy with isolated rain, without ruling out a storm, especially on the coast, while in the remaining areas there will be periods of mainly clear weather. Snow or sleet is likely to fall on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and temporarily in windward areas up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough to rough, but locally in the west and north it will be rough. The temperature will drop to around 9 degrees inland, around 13 on the west coast, around 11 on the rest of the coast and around 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.
On Wednesday and Thursday the weather will be mainly cloudy and intermittent local rains and isolated storms are expected. On Friday there will be rains and local storms, with a gradual expansion to all areas. On the highest peaks of Troodos, during the three-day period, snow or sleet may fall.
The temperature will remain at approximately the same levels, continuing to fluctuate slightly above average climatic values.
