The approval of amending regulations, which include in the prohibitions and warning signs and heated smoking products with aromatic substances, was approved by the Council of Ministers, thus harmonizing the national legislation with the European directives, announced the Minister of Health Popi Kanari.
In statements after the Cabinet meeting, Ms. Kanari explained that in the legislation on smoking control, which had been enacted in 2017, these products had been excluded and it was prohibited to place on the market conventional cigarettes and tobacco for rolling cigarettes that contained aromatic substances in their ingredients.
"These amending regulations prohibit the placing on the market, other than conventional cigarettes and rolling tobacco, of heated tobacco products containing flavoring substances in any of their ingredients," he added.
The Minister of Health also noted that the amendment also concerns product labeling, with the new regulations including verbal labels, warnings about the harmful effects of smoking and heated tobacco products.
Finally, Mrs. Kanari clarified that the amendment does not concern vaping products (vape) that have liquid in them, but only those categories that concern the device for heated tobacco products in which cigarettes with aromatic substances are placed.
