The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, is making a two-day visit to Greece

On March 13 and 14, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, is making a two-day visit to Greece, at the invitation of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

This is the first official visit of Mr. Christodoulidis abroad since assuming his duties. During his stay in Athens, President Christodoulidis will have a series of contacts with the political, political and religious leadership of the country.

As the President himself had stated, in an interview with ERT, ahead of his official visit, his presence in Greece will not only have a symbolic, but also an essential content, with particular emphasis on Nikos Christodoulides' pursuit of active involvement of the EU in the effort to resolve the Cyprus issue. As Cypriot government sources note, perhaps during the two-day visit there will be specific announcements on how to achieve better coordination between the two countries.

After all, as the Government Spokesman Constantinos Letympiotis noted in his statements, the Cyprus issue and the efforts to restart the negotiations, in the light of the specific proposal, will be at the center of the talks that Mr. Christodoulidis will have in Athens. Also, according to Mr. Letympiotis, the content of the Cypriot President's meetings in Greece is expected to concern issues of bilateral relations, regional developments, as well as the agenda of the upcoming European Council, including the war in Ukraine, migration and energy issues.

In more detail regarding the program of President Christodoulidis, this morning, at 10:20, he will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. Afterwards, he will go to the Presidency of the Republic, where the official welcoming ceremony will take place and immediately after his personal meeting with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

At 11:05 a medal ceremony will take place at the Presidential Palace and will be followed by extended talks between the two delegations.

Subsequently, at 12:00 the President of the Republic of Cyprus will go to the Maximos Palace, where he will have a private meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and at 13:30 an official lunch will be held in his honor at the Presidential Palace.

At 17:00 a meeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus with the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Konstantinos Tassoulas is scheduled, while at 18:00 he will visit the War Museum for the honorary event of the EOKA 1955-1959 Historical Remembrance Council.

On Tuesday, at 8:20 the President of the Republic of Cyprus will meet with the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias and at 09:00 with the leader of the official opposition Alexis Tsipras.

Subsequently, at 09:50 he will have a meeting with the President of PASOK - Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis and at 10:25 with the General Secretary of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas.

Immediately after, at 11:00 a.m. he will meet with the President of the Hellenic Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos and at 11:35 a.m. with the Secretary of MERA25 Yanis Varoufakis.

Finally, a meeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus with His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos is scheduled for 13:00 p.m.
