The end of August is expected to mark a new and final attempt to reach an agreement on the national minimum wage. According to the KYPE, the Minister of Labor Kyriakos Kousios is expected to have a new joint meeting with the employer and trade union organizations on August 31, which will take place at 8.30 in the morning at the Ministry of Labour. There the Minister of Labor will submit his final proposal on the subject of the minimum wage and will listen to the positions of the social partners.

It is recalled that during his last meeting with the SEK, PEO and DEOK unions, on August 9, the differences in the approaches between the employers' side and the trade union movement on the issue of establishing the minimum wage remained open.

In addition, Mr. Kousios stated that he will deliver his report to the President of the Republic by the end of August, who will make his decisions and give relevant instructions. As he explained, his effort is to bring together opinions, but at the end of the day, it is the Government that will make the decision and the President of the Republic, who decided that there should be a national minimum wage. "The effort is to converge opinions as much as possible, because there can be no agreement. The decree will be issued with certainty, regardless of disputes", emphasized the responsible Minister.
