The 42-year-old Doros Theofanous, who was arrested on Sunday afternoon in the coastal area of Amathus, in Limassol, is being brought before the Paphos District Court today, Monday, under draconian security measures, after he had escaped last Thursday during a legal leave from his family's house, in Choletria of Paphos.

According to the Police, the 42-year-old is expected to be brought before a Court to secure a detention order for the continuation of the examinations, while another 26-year-old person is in custody for the case. He faces the offense of escaping from lawful arrest.

As the Police Spokesman Christos Andreou stated yesterday, the 42-year-old, who was wanted after escaping from legal custody last Thursday in Paphos, was located after a coordinated operation with the participation of various Police departments at around 17:25 on the beachfront Limassol.

"The 42-year-old was arrested on a warrant. In a search conducted after his arrest, nothing objectionable was found in his possession," he added.

As Mr. Andreou mentioned, from the first moment (of his escape), crisis management centers operated both at the Police Headquarters and in the Districts of Paphos and Limassol under the coordination of the Chief of Police.

After the development with the arrest of the lifer-convict, it was announced on Sunday evening that the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Police Stylianos Papatheodoros and Dimitris Dimitrios, respectively, were suspended, with the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis appointing Themistos Arnaoutis to the position of Chief and Panikos Stavros in the position of Deputy Chief of the Force.
