The highest monthly performance since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic was recorded by tourist arrivals in October 2021, which amounted to 391.698, showing an increase of 289% on an annual basis (October 2020).

Based on the data published today by the Statistical Service, compared to the corresponding month of 2019, tourist arrivals in October 2021 showed a decrease of 10,3%.

Moreover, for the period January - October 2021, tourist arrivals amounted to 1.691.030 compared to 612.975 in the corresponding period of 2020, recording an increase of 175,9% and a decrease of 54,3% compared to the period January - October 2019 (3.697.055 .XNUMX arrivals).

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for October 2021, accounting for 31,8% (124.501) of total arrivals, arrivals from Russia 19,6% (76.613), arrivals from Germany in 7,1% (27.623), arrivals from Poland 4,1% (16.154), arrivals from Greece 4,0% (15.669) and arrivals from Ukraine 3,9% (15.254).

According to the Statistical Service, the purpose of travel in October 2021 was for a percentage of 87,2% of tourists holidays, for 8,3% a visit to friends or relatives and for a percentage of 4,5% business. Respectively, for October 2020, 81,8% visited Cyprus for holidays, 11,5% for visiting friends or relatives and 6,6% for business reasons
