Police actions and enhanced presence at critical points and on the road network continue, to protect citizens and ensure everyday life.
Last night, targeted checks, patrols and interventions were carried out in areas with high crime rates, while at the same time information is being utilized in collaboration with other competent authorities, for the effective prevention and suppression of criminal phenomena.
Specifically, over 600 checks were carried out, resulting in 155 traffic complaints. Twelve of these concerned driving under the influence of alcohol, while one driver tested positive for drugs in a preliminary drug test.
In the context of an investigation into traffic offenses, a total of three vehicles were seized, while seven people were arrested for offenses related to the illegal possession of offensive instruments and explosives, illegal possession of drugs and illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
These operations are part of a broad and constantly strengthened plan to combat crime, with increased police presence, targeted controls and direct operational action in all provinces.
