The same treatment with the police, the firefighters, but also with the employees of the public and wider public sector, who are paid overtime for the extra hours they work, are demanded by the military in the context of the establishment of hours in the National Guard. The president of the Association of Officers, Captain Ioannis Malliotis, in his letter to the deputies of the Defense Committee, requests that the following positions of the Association be adopted:

Give the choice of financial compensation without prejudice to the issue of rest and according to the financial capabilities of the state.
Public holidays should not be equated with other holidays. Therefore, the exemption on public holidays should be twice the other holidays.

The arrival time of the executives to undertake service should be 13:00 on weekdays. It is considered enough one hour that the executives will have at their disposal to be informed before the departure of the other executives from their work. In the regulations for the establishment of hours, the arrival time of the executives for undertaking service is set at 11:00, while today the arrival time is at 12:00.

Integrity is required system for updating the working hours of executives. It is worth mentioning that, in the context of the discussion of the relevant regulations for the schedule in the Armed Forces that is in progress before the Parliamentary Defense Committee, the head of the Armed Forces stated that preceded by a long consultation with the army liaisons in relation to the provisions of the regulations in question and pointed out that the responsibility for the implementation of working hours and generally the provisions of the regulations he will have himself. For their part, members of the Defense Committee expressed the view that, in addition to the compensatory rest period, provision should be made for the payment of monetary compensation to members of the army in the event of exceeding the working hours provided for in the regulations.

At tomorrow's session, the Parliamentary Defense Committee will continue the examination of the disputed regulations for the schedule in the National Assembly, which provide, inter alia, the following:

1 The existing one total weekly time service of members of the army shall be determined on 37,5 hours, either apply regular or special working hours. For those who apply special working hours, if they are required to work on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, these days will be counted as working days.

2 Defined maximum working time per week corresponding to 48 hours. This average will be calculated with a reference period of six months. The calculation of the average of 48 hours per week within the six-month reference period will not take into account the periods of eligible annual sick leave, the periods of annual sick leave, holidays, and the time during which the member army was on business trips abroad.

3 In order to carry out their mission, members of the army are required to be called up for service beyond the above weekly service time (37,5 hours) subject, however, to the provision of an average of 48 hours for the performance of special duties, such as e.g. during exercises, for the implementation of vigilance measures, etc. Compensatory rest time will be granted for the performance of special tasks.

4 Taking into account the specific mission of the SC and given the deteriorating situation prevailing, the regulations in question provide that: The members of the army are obliged during periods of alert due to an emergency event, following a decision of the commander, to show up and stay for as long as required and beyond the set hours.
