The Paphos Police proceeded to re-arrest seven people on Sunday to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of illegal assembly and carrying weapons to incite terror. Initially, the seven were arrested for illegal possession of offensive instruments in the department store area, in Kato Paphos.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, around 2:25 in the morning on Sunday, a police patrol stopped a car in the area of ​​the department store, in which the seven persons, aged from 19 to 36 years old, were on board.

Inside the vehicle, they allegedly carried various offensive instruments, such as clubs and stones. The persons were initially arrested for illegal possession of offensive instruments.

New arrest warrants were issued for them on Sunday and all seven were re-arrested for conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, participating in an unlawful assembly, carrying a weapon to incite terror and carrying an offensive instrument.

As Mr. Nikolaou mentioned, from further examinations the Police estimates that the seven persons were allegedly heading to a specific location with the aim of locating other persons and colluding with each other. The exams continue at the TAE Paphos.
