The Cyprus Police continues to strengthen its presence at critical points and throughout the road network, confirming its determination to protect citizens and ensure a smooth daily life. During the actions, targeted checks, patrols and interventions are carried out in areas of high crime, while information and cooperation with other competent authorities are utilized for the effective prevention and suppression of criminal phenomena.
The Cyprus Police, as stated in a statement, continues with consistency and determination, sending a message of zero tolerance towards illegality and ensuring that citizens can feel safe in their daily lives.
Within this context, a total of 400 checks were carried out on Sunday evening, resulting in 148 complaints for various traffic offenses.
During the traffic checks, 57 breathalyzer tests were carried out, of which eight drivers tested positive and were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 37 drivers were reported for violating the speed limit.
As part of an investigation into traffic offenses, a total of four vehicles were seized for further examination.
At the same time, eleven people were arrested, seven in Larnaca for gambling, two in Limassol for a drug case and illegal possession of explosives, one for illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and one for violation of a court order.
These operations are part of a broad and constantly strengthened plan to combat crime, with increased police presence, targeted controls and direct operational action in all provinces.
