The Cybercrime Unit (KDIE) of the Headquarters received information through Europol, according to which in May 2025, an online platform user uploaded a total of 140 video and image files containing material of sexual abuse of minors to his account.
From the examinations that followed, it was determined that the owner/user of this specific account is a 30-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday pursuant to a court warrant.
During his arrest, a mobile phone was found in his possession, which was seized as evidence for forensic examination.
A preliminary check conducted revealed that the phone contained two files containing material depicting the sexual abuse of minors.
In a subsequent investigation, in the presence of the suspect, at his residence, two laptop computers and a data storage unit (USB) were located and seized as evidence.
Members of the National Anti-Drug Enforcement Agency were also called to the scene, after narcotics were detected, resulting in the 30-year-old being arrested for the flagrant offense of drug possession.
The case is being investigated by the Cybercrime Unit.
