The Pafos Police arrested a 37-year-old man on Thursday night who was wanted by the Ukrainian authorities for an arson case in 2023.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, late on Thursday night a member of the Paphos airport who was conducting passport control in the arrivals area found that a 37-year-old foreigner had arrived by flight, whose details were entered in the stop list by the Ukrainian authorities.
According to the Police, this is a person wanted by the Ukrainian authorities for the crime of arson committed on October 22, 2023, in Ukraine.
Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE that the Police secured a temporary arrest warrant from the Paphos District Court, under which the 37-year-old was arrested and the process of extradition to the Ukrainian authorities is expected to begin today.
