The Police arrested a 50-year-old man, a resident of Larnaca, to facilitate investigations regarding the case of the detection and seizure of a quantity of cannabis exceeding two on Thursday afternoon in Nicosia.
A statement from the Police Communications Branch states that, after evaluating information, members of the YMCA, at around 7.30pm on Thursday, stopped a car driven by the 50-year-old on a Nicosia road for inspection and during the search of the car, a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of two kilograms, a nylon package containing cannabis, with a gross weight of three grams and a mobile phone were located and seized.
A search followed in his apartment in Larnaca, where a small quantity of cannabis was located and seized.
As a result, the 50-year-old was arrested for the flagrant offense of illegal possession of drugs and was taken into custody, while today, Friday, he is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court, for the issuance of a detention order.
