The issue that arose after complaints from the members of the Police to the Police Branch of the Pancyprian Guild EQUALITY was resolved, that police officers who are injured on duty pay the amount of 10 euros to the First Aid of hospitals.
The issue came after a letter from the Minister of Justice, to the Ministry of Health, which in turn assured through a letter that according to the law on General Health System 2019, members of the security forces in the performance of official duties, including officers and non-commissioned officers of the Hellenic Force of Cyprus (ELDYK), are excluded from the payment of a supplement for the health care services offered in the Department of Accidents and Emergencies within the framework of the GESS.
"They pay the largest share as a group of employees at GESS"
Another issue that arises and is expected to be discussed, according to the President of the Police Branch of the Pancyprian Guild ISOTITA, Nikos Loizidis is that the members of the Police pay a large share to the GESS and an amount is deducted from all their earnings.
Speaking to SigmaLive, Mr. Loizidis said that "after the GESS law in 2019, the members of the security forces pay perhaps the largest share as a working group of the Republic of Cyprus since the then agreement provides for cuts on all their earnings. That is, from public holidays, Sundays and overtime ".
He noted that this is a completely wrong agreement which we know can not be changed but at least the members of the security forces who pay an average of 1700 euros per year should have a similar 'treatment' by the GESS and not beg for treatment . We all became the same. Whether you contribute to GESS or not, whether you work for Democracy or not. There must be an end. "
Finally, he stated that "in other European countries, as well as in Greece, the security forces are provided with medical care in military hospitals. Also, the best health card can cost much less, about 60%, than the money given every year by the members of the Police ".
