Four deaths and over 300 new cases

Four people died due to coronavirus, while the new positive cases reached 309, according to the Ministry of Health.

Specifically:

  • Four people have died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 260.
  • 190 patients COVID-19 46 of whom are in serious condition.

A total of 43,914 disease detection tests have been performed with the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test method.

  • 309 (positivity rate: 0,70%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 46,173.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The four people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:

  • An 87-year-old man with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination who ended up at the Limassol General Hospital.
  • A 62-year-old man, with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A 47-year-old man with an underlying disease, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A 79-year-old man with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination, who ended up at the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 260, of which:

  • 173 men (67%), and
  • 87 women (33%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 190 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 46 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 46 patients who are critical, 22 are intubated, five are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 19 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test): 

Of the 43,914 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 1,436 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 42,478 by the antigen rapid test, 309 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

• 58 cases from 1,234 samples taken through private initiative.

• 7 cases from 202 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.

• 244 cases from 42,422 samples that were examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

• 56 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
