A fatal road collision that occurred yesterday afternoon in Larnaca resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man. George Remus Strunoiou, a Romanian citizen.
Specifically, at around 14:20 yesterday, the Police received information about an injured man on a dirt road, near the Dipotamos dam, Kato Lefkara territory.
Police officers arrived at the scene, where they found two immobilized vehicles and an injured man on the ground.
According to the information under review, a 66-year-old man, in his attempt to move his vehicle near another stationary vehicle to provide power via cables, under circumstances that are being investigated, hit and injured the 51-year-old owner of the second vehicle.
The 66-year-old temporarily left the scene to seek help and returned a short time later accompanied by two other people to provide assistance to the injured man.
An ambulance was called to the scene, which picked up the injured man and transported him to Nicosia General Hospital, where despite the efforts of the medical staff, the 51-year-old succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The 66-year-old underwent an alcohol and drug test, with negative results, and was arrested on a court warrant to facilitate investigations.
Then, after being questioned in writing, he was released to be summoned later.
Larnaca Traffic Police continues the examinations.
