The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Christodoulidis, had a telephone conversation with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, in the afternoon, on the issue of Famagusta, as KYPE is informed.
During his conversation with Mr. Lavrov, Mr. Christodoulidis referred, in the light of the illegal visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the occupied territories, to the Turkish plans and actions regarding the encircled city of Famagusta and the outskirts of Famagusta. and the status quo on the Turkish side.
He also told his Russian counterpart that the Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations would send a letter to the UN Security Council denouncing the Turkish actions.
A similar letter on the issue of Famagusta and the announcements made by the Turkish side was sent by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
