A twenty-four-year-old man was arrested today in Paphos on suspicion of stealing property worth approximately 31.500 euros from his grandparents' home, according to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou.
Mr. Nikolaou stated that on February 17, a complaint was made to the Paphos Police Station by a couple aged 73 and 74, that over the last year, at intervals, jewelry worth approximately 30.000 euros, various other items worth 1.100 euros and 400 euros in cash were stolen from their residence in Paphos, either following a burglary or by the perpetrator entering through open doors or windows.
Mr. Nikolaou added that they suspected their 24-year-old grandson, who had access to the residence, noting that, as they said, he had confessed to them in some cases of committing some of the thefts.
Immediately after the complaint, an arrest warrant was issued against the 24-year-old for the offenses of burglary and theft, theft from a residence, illegal entry and malicious damage.
Today at noon, members of the Paphos Crime Detection Department, following information, located and arrested him in the Pegeia area, riding in a car, which had been stolen during the night of February 15 to 16, worth 8000 euros, and contained various construction tools worth 3600 euros.
As Mr. Nikolaou mentioned, an arrest warrant is expected to be issued against the 24-year-old for the theft of the vehicle. Examinations are continuing at the Paphos Police Station.
