The Anti-Narcotics Service (ANS), in collaboration with the Customs Authorities, yesterday, Tuesday, arrested a 23-year-old man at Paphos Airport for offenses related to the importation and possession of a large quantity of cannabis.

Specifically, according to an announcement by the Office of the Communications Branch of the Police Headquarters, at around 21:30 on Tuesday, at Paphos airport, the 23-year-old was located and stopped for inspection by members of the Cyprus Immigration Service and the Customs Authorities, upon his arrival in Cyprus on a flight coming from a European country.

In a subsequent search of his luggage, two nylon packages, sealed airtight, were found, which contained cannabis with a total gross weight of 16 kilograms and 776 grams, as reported.

The suspect was arrested for flagrant offenses and then re-arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.
