A 52-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night at Larnaca Airport, as a European arrest warrant was pending against him by the Spanish authorities for robbery and theft from a residence. The crimes were allegedly committed between 2003 and 2005 in the country.
As reported by the press spokesman for the Larnaca Police Department, Christodoulos Konsolos, the 52-year-old arrived in Cyprus from abroad last night and was arrested during a passport check at Larnaca Airport.
"From the check that was carried out, it was found that a European arrest warrant was pending against him, which had been issued by the competent authorities in Spain for crimes of robbery and theft from a residence, which were allegedly committed in the period 2003-2005 in Spain," he said.
He noted that "the 52-year-old was arrested on the basis of a provisional arrest warrant and was taken into custody. Today he is expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court for the start of his extradition proceedings."
The Larnaca Crime Detection Department continues the examinations.
