A young man from Limassol died tragically on Sunday shortly after midnight, when the car he was driving crashed into trees and then exploded.
This is Aristotle Agapiou, 23, from Limassol.
According to the Police, at around 00:40 after midnight, Agapiou was driving his car on the Asomatos - Akrotiri road, within the British Bases, when, under circumstances that are being investigated, he deviated from his course, as a result of which he collided with cypress trees that are on the edge of the street.
From the collision, the car exploded, as a result of which the unfortunate 23-year-old died instantly.
The Fire Department was called, whose members extinguished the fire.
The case is being investigated by the British Bases Police. In his statements, the accident investigator of the British Bases, Lakis Hatzichristodoulou, said that Agapio's car repeatedly crashed into a tree line on the side of the road before the explosion occurred and the fire broke out.
He also added that passing drivers saw the fire and notified the Police.
