A fatal accident in a planned educational activity was announced by the Ministry of Defense on the morning of Tuesday 25/5.
The Ministry of Defense in a relevant announcement officially announced that the accident took place this morning in an area of Trooditissa.
The Officer of the Hellenic Armed Forces, in the context of a planned educational activity with the object of "military search at altitude" under conditions that are being investigated, fell to the ground from a great height, reports YPAM.
The officer was transported by helicopter to the General Hospital of Nicosia where the doctors on duty determined his death.
Police are investigating the accident as part of the death investigation. At the same time, the GEEF has ordered an investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.
The Ministry of Defense expresses its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the Officer, the announcement concludes.
