Unspeakable tragedy. A child of just 11 years old breathed his last at Makarios Hospital.
According to initial information, the child had been taken to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit and had previously been diagnosed with Influenza B.
The same information states that his airlift to Israel had been approved, but unfortunately it did not take place.
Speaking to Mesimeri kai Kati, the Press Spokesperson of the Hellenic National Police Agency, Charalambos Charilaou, expressed his condolences to the family of the 11-year-old boy.
"A few hours after his admission to Makarios, it was deemed appropriate to transfer him to the Children's Intensive Care Unit. There, the doctors did everything they could to keep him alive. An effort was made with Israel to transport the child to a specialized center, and his airlift was scheduled for this morning. In the evening, his condition worsened and at dawn he suffered a cardiac arrest," said Mr. Charilaou.
When asked if the child had any other illnesses, he said that there was no such information.
