In a three-hour work stoppage, from 09:00 to 12:00, the Government doctors descend on the Emergency and Accident Departments (Emergency and Accident Departments) throughout Cyprus. During the three-hour stop at the TAEP of the Public Hospitals, patients will be served according to the severity of the disease.

In a statement, PASYKI denounces serious understaffing and lack of security.

"It is now impossible for the TAEP departments to operate safely with the existing understaffing and the additional workload that the doctors of the departments have by handling the workload of short-term hospitalization of positive patients for the disease covid-19", it is stated in a PASYKI announcement.

It is added that TAEP Doctors are forced to work more than their working hours without a day of rest and in most cases 12 to 18 hours a day.

After the announcement of the work stoppage, a meeting was arranged within the day of the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipantela, with PASYKI, with the aim of solving the problems recorded.

The attitude is at the expense of the citizens, says OKypY

The work stoppage is directed against the citizens, undermining the work of OKYPY unjustifiably, depriving them of the right to unhindered access to care and health services, the Organization states in a statement.

It is noted that during the three-hour stop the TAEP of the OKYpY will operate on the basis of a special operational plan for the best possible service to the public.

The Organization, it is stated in the announcement, realizes that there is an increased load due to the pandemic and our doctors are giving their best and emphasizes that all the TAEP and structures of the Organization's Hospitals are staffed with medical, nursing and other personnel, without there being spaces.

During leave periods, especially in the summer months, it is added, all the necessary arrangements are made with the aim, on the one hand, of all staff receiving the rest leave they are entitled to and, on the other hand, of continuing the operation of the Organization's hospitals.

"The Board of Directors of OKYPY took specific measures to upgrade all TAEP, which are being implemented, with the aim of continuously improving the services offered to our fellow citizens", the announcement concludes.
