The Police in Larnaca are investigating a case of poaching, following evidence that emerged against a 35-year-old man, whom members of the Anti-Poaching Squad, the MMAD, spotted early today, in an area in the Larnaca district, trying to free wild birds that had been trapped in trapping nets.
The 35-year-old was spotted by members of the Anti-Poaching Squad, who were on patrol in an area in Tochni, approaching a field where two wild bird trapping nets were installed and trying to remove wild birds that had been trapped from the nets. Along with the nets, a device producing wild bird mimic sounds was also installed and was in operation.

After the police stopped the 35-year-old for a check, they proceeded to release four wild birds, believed to be thrushes, from the nets.
The 35-year-old was taken to the local Zygi Police Station, which undertook further investigation of the case.
