The Cyprus Grain Producers Organization and all agricultural organizations will hold a dynamic tractor protest on Monday, February 16, outside the headquarters of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization (CAPO) in Nicosia, with the aim, as they announced, of "highlighting the serious problems faced by farmers and their immediate resolution."
The announcement states that "at a joint meeting held on February 3, 2026 in Larnaca, they unanimously decided to hold a dynamic protest event with tractors on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 11:30, outside the headquarters of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization (CAPO) in Nicosia."
The announcement notes that "Cyprus' farmers are once again faced with recurring and particularly serious issues, which directly affect their income, their productive activity and, by extension, the sustainability of the entire agricultural sector."
It is also reported that "despite the repeated assurances of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization that farmers would be paid their subsidies (hectares and special measures) within December, however, a large number of farmers have not been paid to date, while many of those who were paid found unjustified significant deductions in the amounts paid."
According to the announcement, "while the competent state services have made the necessary arrangements, which have been requested by the CAPO for immediate payment of farmers, recognizing the problems faced by the agricultural sector due to the Turkish occupation and the fragmentation of land in the free areas, the constantly raised obstacles by the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization and demands that cannot be implemented in practice, intensify the problems and significantly delay the payment of all subsidies."
The organizers "issue an open call to all farmers to unite their voices and participate dynamically in the tractor mobilization on February 16, 2026, demanding immediate and substantive solutions to the serious problems affecting the agricultural sector," they state.
