During the Christmas and New Year period, the British Bases Western Regions Police implemented Operation Dasher, a targeted police action aimed at maintaining security and enhancing the sense of trust in local communities during one of the busiest periods of the year, resulting in the arrest of 34 people, as stated in a statement.
The operation was designed to address key police priorities, such as property crimes (including theft), drug-related offenses, serious traffic violations and youth delinquency.
The operation was led by Senior Lieutenant Colonel Antonis Dimitriou, who stressed the importance of maintaining a visible police presence and taking decisive action, particularly during peak periods such as Christmas.
He said: “It is vital that our communities feel safe during busy periods such as Christmas and we are particularly proud of the professionalism and dedication shown by our officers throughout this operation.
“Our continued presence and the results achieved clearly demonstrate our commitment to protecting our communities.
“Through high-visibility patrols and coordinated law enforcement campaigns, Operation Dasher not only addressed criminal activity, but also provided a sense of security to residents, while acting as a strong deterrent in residential areas.
"BB Police remains committed to working closely with partner agencies and the public, with the aim of enhancing the safety of communities and maintaining trust throughout the year."
