A weak low pressure system is beginning to affect the area. Starting Wednesday afternoon, the island will be affected by a cold air mass and a strengthened northerly air current.
Today, the weather will initially be mainly clear, but will gradually become partly cloudy. Winds will initially be variable light, 3 Beaufort, later becoming mainly southwest to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coast and to 11 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy and locally mainly cloudy, while local rains and isolated storms are expected, mainly in the western half. Snow or sleet may fall on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough on the south and east coasts, but slightly rough on the west and north coasts. The temperature will drop to 5 degrees inland, around 8 on the coast and to 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.
On Wednesday the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mainly cloudy, while local rains and isolated storms are expected, mainly after noon. Snow is expected in the higher mountains. On Thursday and Friday the weather will be mainly clear and cold, however initially on Thursday locally increased cloudiness that will be observed may lead to light snowfall in the mountains.
The temperature will drop significantly by Thursday to fluctuate below average climatic values, while no significant change is expected on Friday.
