After 15 years of effort, as well as help from a group of people, the restoration of the church of Agia Irini in Choletria began.

The Holy Diocese of Paphos announced the start of the restoration works of the chapel of Agia Irini in Choletria in an event organized on the afternoon of Easter Tuesday.

The event, which took place in the presence of the Metropolitan of Paphos, Mr. Tychikos, included a presentation of the work on the monument by the designer of the project and an artistic program by the Sacred Gardens complex.

Elena Christoforou, on behalf of the Commission for the construction of the chapel, said at the event that she discovered the foundations in grass after a dream.

As he mentioned, the area which has a surrounding fence and also the surrounding area, which looks cleaned, has been recovered by the church and is planned to be turned into a beautiful church area, which anyone can visit either for prayer or for rest.

In addition, Mrs. Christoforou noted that they have secured the necessary approvals from the Department of Antiquities for the restoration of the church as a committee.

The event was also attended by the civil engineer of the project, Philippos Demosthenous from the David Kastrilos Architectural Office, who has undertaken to carry out the project, in coordination with the Commission for the construction of the chapel, the Department of Antiquities, the Community Council and the Diocese of Paphos.
