Normally the schools would open today but the children were given one more day to do the rapid tests
Preschool children, kindergartens and nurseries returned to their schools today, while public and private schools, Primary and Secondary schools, will reopen on January 10, according to the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
Speaking at Mesimeri kai Kati, the Minister of Education, Prodromos Prodromou, stated that the plans have been made and that everything is ready for the return of the students.
He explained that one of the most important issues they had to deal with was staff replacements.
"One of the issues at stake is replacements. Already today, with the kindergartens that started, great efforts were made and the gaps were filled. "The situation is changing every day but we are prepared to replace the teachers who will be affected by the disease, whether they will be contacts or they will have to take care of the children," said the Minister of Education.
He explained that the replacements are made from the existing catalogs.
He went on to say, "After a point, those who are willing are exhausted, it plays a role and where the replacement will be. That is why we have in mind plan B and plan C because the children who will return to schools will have to find teachers in the classrooms ".
In closing he explained that normally the schools would open today but the children were given another day to take the rapid tests. Kindergartens opened normally today because there is no specific measure.
