Almost a month before the return of students to schools, the Ministry of Education is ready for the new school year. The Minister of Education, Prodomos Prodromou, gave answers for the single desks, vaccinations of teachers and students, but also for the four-month exams.
Speaking on the First Show of Radio Proto, Mr. Prodromous clarified that the issue that had arisen with the single desks has been resolved for a long time. "It seems that the information given is inaccurate. Last year, a decision was taken by the Ministry and a proposal was approved for the installation of a total of about 30 thousand single desks at various levels. Since then, the School Tax Office has already installed a number of almost 47 thousand. Therefore, those who constantly discuss desks I think do not have a good knowledge of the data. "Only in Limassol did some technical reasons arise and their preparation was not completed but the planning will be completed in the coming weeks".
"The pandemic is not going to go away. We must learn to live with it. "In schools, the health rules that apply in society should apply," he said.
With SafePass going back to school- The Walk-In chance
The Minister of Education explained that, "in the coming days I will have a meeting with the Minister of Health. We have thoughts with the Advisory Group of the Ministry of Education, which is parallel to the team of the Ministry of Health where the TEU participates as well as representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Pediatric Society for the new year. We will have the final directions that they will give us and it is clear that in schools we will operate with SafePass ".
Asked about the request of organized parents to provide free tests to students for free, he replied that "whether students and teachers will pay for SafePass is not a matter for the Ministry of Education but it is a general policy not to be encouraged. However, it is something that we will discuss with the Minister of Health ".
Regarding the possibility of transferring mobile units (Walk-In) to schools for vaccination, Mr. Prodromou said that "if that helps, yes. We will have it in other Universities because they had a great response ".
Four-month exams
Regarding the four-month exams, Mr. Prodromou clarified that for the new school year, what the Parliament decided in 2017 will apply. . This is what we apply. There should be no question as to what will apply and this debate is misplaced. If someone sows confusion, he does not offer ".
