Our efforts as a Ministry, were and are, to find a compromise solution that will satisfy both sides, said the Minister of Health Dr. Popi Kanari, called to take a position on the issue of today's strike in public hospitals.

Speaking on the sidelines of a visit she made to the George and Thelmas Paraskevaidis Foundation, she expressed her regret for the suffering caused to patients due to the strike and noted that the Ministry will continue its efforts to reach a mutually acceptable solution between OKYpY and the workers' unions.

Hepatology Clinic

-------

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, when asked whether there are any developments regarding the creation of a Hepatology Clinic in Cyprus, Dr. Kanari said that her recent visit to London together with the General Executive Director of OKYpY was particularly successful.

"For the first time, we gave the two British hospitals specific proposals and we await their response as to exactly what they can offer and at what cost," he pointed out.

He also mentioned that scholarships have been requested from the British hospitals for doctors and nurses in the field of hepatology, in order to be able to offer their services with the operation of the Hepatology Clinic.

Finally, he emphasized that, in consultation with OKYpY, positions will be announced for the recruitment of hepatologists, in order to fill a gap that has existed for years.
