The Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipantela, spoke on the SIGMA show "Protoselido" about the phenomena of patients being referred from private hospitals to state ones and his strong intervention.
As he mentioned, almost every week he is in one of the hospitals and it will become clear what will happen in the next few days regarding the issue.
He noted that he has also requested information from OKYPY about the specific problem, which the Ministry identified six months ago.
He mentioned that for one of the incidents in which a woman was expelled from a private hospital while the health problem she was facing was serious, he himself spoke to the doctor and asked why they refused to see her and received the answer that she would go on vacation the next day, as well as and the doctor who replaces him.
“I heard this with my ears, amazed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing," said the Minister.
As the Minister said, "unfortunately we have given so much money to these doctors that right now their concern is how to treat profitable cases and their first concern is profit and not patients.
He emphasized that the checks by the medical services have begun, while a circular will be sent by the Ministry.
