New measures aimed at stopping the pandemic were decided last night (29/12) by the Council of Ministers after the rapid increase of cases in Cyprus.
Speaking on the front page, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Konstantinos Athanassiou, referred to yesterday's decisions but also to the possibility of tightening the measures.
He initially said that the data were discussed that "may be implemented in the coming days when the situation will be re-evaluated. "Things are serious, if this outbreak continues, the Ministry of Health will have to take the necessary measures to stop any dispersal in the community."
He went on to say that the specific measures were set in order to protect public health.
Referring to the Omicron mutation, he said that we will have further information in the coming days, but that he is already in the community.
Asked about the possibility of introducing compulsory vaccination in Cyprus, he said that such a thing is not being considered at this stage.
In closing, he called on everyone to show responsible behavior and individual responsibility.
