The Larnaca District Court today issued an eight-day detention order against two individuals aged 36 and 24 who were arrested in Larnaca, to facilitate Police interrogations regarding an ongoing case involving the discovery of two kilograms of cannabis.
A statement from the Police Communications Branch states that "as part of targeted operations to combat drug trafficking, members of the Larnaca District Unit of the Anti-Drug Service (YKAN) proceeded yesterday, Sunday, to locate and seize approximately two kilograms of cannabis and arrest two individuals."
Specifically, according to the police statement, "during an operation carried out yesterday afternoon in the Larnaca district, a nylon bag containing a quantity of dry cannabis plant material, weighing approximately one kilogram, was found outside a property owned by a 36-year-old man."
It is added that the 36-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offense, while during a search conducted inside the premises, a second nylon bag was located and seized, also containing a quantity of cannabis, weighing approximately one kilogram.
Also, as reported, "in a search carried out in a car located at the scene, owned by a 24-year-old young man, a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately nine grams, a precision scale and a sum of money were found, resulting in the 24-year-old being arrested for a flagrant offense."
The two arrested were brought before the Larnaca District Court today, which issued a detention order against them for eight days.
The Larnaca District Level of the National Vocational Training Commission continues its exams.
