The forest fire that broke out on Wednesday in the area of ​​Agios Mamandos community of Limassol District was brought under partial control on Thursday morning. Powerful firefighting forces, operating throughout the night in the area, set at 7:00 am. under partial control of the fire, which broke out yesterday at 15:15.

As the Department of Forestry states in its announcement, the fire burned an area of ​​1,5 square kilometers, covered with forest vegetation.

It is noted that to extinguish the fire, the IKAROS Plan 2 was applied again at the first light of day, with the participation of eight aerial firefighting vehicles.

In addition, a total of 200 people from the Forestry Department with 30 fire engines, six earth movers and two tankers operated in the area.

The operation also involved 20 people from the Fire Service with six fire engines, 19 people from the Civil Defense with six small fire engines, 10 people from the Game and Wildlife Service with two small fire engines, members of the Ambulance Service, the Police, the National Guard, of the Limassol Provincial Administration, volunteers and residents of the area.
