Ministerial: Employee Support Plan Approved - All information

The Council of Ministers approved a Plan for measures to support employees to deal with the effects of the coronavirus

The Council of Ministers met today under the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis, at the Presidential Palace.        

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers approved a Plan for measures to support employees to deal with the effects of the coronavirus. It concerns independent employees and companies that participated in previous periods within 2020 and 2021 in the Special Plans implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance and which belong to the following economic activities:

1. Photographers

2. Taxi Drivers

3. Street vendors

The One-Time Sponsorship Scheme will benefit approximately 1900 self-employed workers and companies with a total cost of 1 million 600 thousand Euros.

Also, the Council of Ministers approved a Plan for the support of hotel employees, which will benefit about 1500 unemployed people with a total cost of about 1 million Euros. One-time support will be paid for the months of December 2021 and January 2022 if the following conditions are met:

A) be located in the Republic of Cyprus,

B) not to have rejected their participation in the Training Plan implemented by the Human Resources Development Authority for training of hotel employees.

Affected hotel employees in the years 2020 and 2021 due to the conditions created by the pandemic must have worked in hotels for such a period of time, that the insurance conditions of the Social Security Legislation for the provision of unemployment benefit are not met.
