Allowances for students, farmers and mothers

The Council of Ministers met today under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis. The following decisions were taken:

The Council of Ministers approved the Plan to Grant Benefits to Families Having Triplets and Above. Beneficiaries are all mothers, regardless of employment status, provided that they reside permanently and legally in the Republic of Cyprus for the last five years prior to the birth of the children.

The plan provides for the payment of a lump sum, to cover the first needs of €1.500 for each child.

In addition, it is possible to apply for benefits corresponding to the Baby Dowry Plan, including equipment and baby diapers, depending on the needs of the family, worth up to €1500 per child.

A particularly important support provision is the grant of up to €400 per month to subsidize the purchase of home services by an approved carer or childminder, from the day of birth until the children reach their first year.

The Council of Ministers decided to pay financial aid, a maximum of €1.220.500 to the affected farmers for damages caused by adverse weather conditions and natural disasters to agricultural crops during the 2021-2022 growing season.

Since August 2019, when the new plan for risk management in agricultural production was implemented, farmers have been granted 30m.for compensation related to theomen and severe weather phenomena. In addition, 25 million have been granted to deal with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and another 20 million. on the effects of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In the same context, the Council of Ministers decided to grant, for humanitarian reasons financial assistance to those affected by extreme weather and fire in the Kormakitis Community in Kyrenia District. The aid concerns a small number of affected people in the occupied Kormakiti community.

It also decided to grant a Minor Support of €14.055 for 2022 to professional fishermen in the Zygio area, as a compensatory measure for the effects of the construction and operation of the marine fuel loading and unloading dock in the area of ​​Vassilikos.
