Citizens' voting began at midnight on March 12th to select the 56 candidate MPs who will represent the movement in the upcoming May Parliamentary Elections, the Direct Democracy of Cyprus reported on Thursday.
As noted, for the first time in the political history of the Republic of Cyprus, citizens have the opportunity to directly participate in the selection of candidates through the digital platform AGORA, putting into practice the principles of Direct Democracy. According to the movement, the voting process will be completed on March 14, at 23:59.
"Since the first hours of the process, citizen participation has been particularly high, exceeding all expectations and confirming society's strong interest in a new way of political participation, where citizens themselves have the first say," it is reported. The announcement of the results and the official proclamation of the 56 candidates for MPs of the Direct Republic of Cyprus will take place next Sunday at 18:00 at Saint George Hall in Limassol, the announcement concludes.
