The official inauguration ceremony of the 56 new MPs elected in the parliamentary elections of May 24 took place in a festive atmosphere on Monday at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. The process was completed in the presence of political leaders, party executives, relatives and friends of those elected, marking the new composition of the House of Representatives, which is expected to convene for the first time on June 4.
The ceremony began with the announcement of the MPs who secured seats through the first distribution in alphabetical order of the parties and according to the most preference crosses in each party. The announcement of the MPs for the Nicosia district was carried out by the Nicosia Election Commissioner, Andreas Hatzipakkos.
From AKEL, the following were proclaimed General Secretary: Stefanos Stefanou, Giorgos Loukaidis, Christos Christofides and Aristos Damianou.
From ALMA, the party's President, Odysseas Michaelides, was elected.
DISY announced Dimitris Dimitriou, Giorgos Pamborides, Savia Orphanidou, Andreas Konstantinou and Charalambos Petrides. The election of Andreas Konstantinou is expected to lead to an electoral process for the position of deputy mayor in the Municipal District of Aglantzia.
From DIKO, the President of the party, Nikolas Papadopoulos, was declared, from ELAM, the President, Christos Christou, while from the Direct Democracy movement, Yannis Lauris was declared, after the resignation of the seat by the President of the movement, Phidias Panagiotou, who remains in the position of MEP.
In the Limassol district, where the proclamation was made by the Election Commissioner Emily Dionysiou, Efraim Christou and Marina Nikolaou were proclaimed from AKEL, with the former being recorded as the youngest MP in the new Parliament, aged 24. Panikos Leonidou was elected from DIKO, Fotini Tsiridou, Giorgos Karaiskakis and Michalis Fellas from DISY, while Polys Anogyriatis was proclaimed from ELAM.
In the Famagusta district, Election Commissioner Florence Georgiou declared Nikos Kettiros and Giorgos Koukoumas from AKEL, Giorgos Karoulas, Nikos Georgiou and Giorgos Lyssandrides from DISY, and Linos Papagiannis from ELAM.
From the Larnaca district, where Georgia Loizia was the Election Commissioner, Andreas Pasiourtidis from AKEL and DISY President Annita Dimitriou were declared.
In Paphos, Election Commissioner Euphrosyne Georgiou Flourentzou declared Valentinos Fakontis from AKEL and Charalambos Pazaros from DISY.
MPs declared from the second and third distribution

The process of declaring the MPs elected through the second and third distribution followed, which was carried out by the General Superintendent of Elections Elikkos Ilias. In Nicosia, Konstantinos Konstantinou from AKEL, Irini Charalambidou from ALMA, Christiana Erotokritou and Chrysis Pantelidis from DIKO, as well as Marios Pelekanos and Andreas Papacharalambous from ELAM were declared.
In Limassol, Argendoulla Ioannou from AKEL, Michalis Paraskevas from ALMA, Dimitris Souglis from Direct Democracy, Michalis Kounounis from DISY and Evgenios Chamboullas from ELAM were declared.
In Famagusta, Giannakis Gavriil from AKEL, Litsa Drousiotou from ALMA, Diana Lousia Konstantinidi from Direct Democracy, Zacharias Koulias from DIKO and Linos Hadjigeorgiou from ELAM were declared.
From Larnaca, Panikos Xiouroupas from AKEL, Andreas Apostolou from DIKO, Prodromos Alampritis from DISY and Sotiris Ioannou from ELAM were declared. In Paphos, Dimitris Baros from ALMA, Chrysanthos Savvidis from DIKO and Nikoletta Konstantinou from DISY were declared, while in Kyrenia, Anastasia Hasikou from AKEL, Adamos Aspris from DIKO and Dimos Georgiadis from DISY were declared.
During the ceremony, the representatives of the religious groups in the House of Representatives were also presented. Petros Nakouzis was declared the representative of the Maronites after an electoral process.
At the same time, it was recalled that Vartkes Mahdesian as a representative of the Armenian religious group and Antonella Lydia Mantovani as a representative of the Latin religious group had already been declared unopposed on May 7, 2026.
The completion of the process officially sealed the composition of the new House of Representatives, which is called upon to manage a new political reality with reshuffles in the party map, new faces, and a significant presence of new political formations in the new parliamentary term.
