The Attorney General sent a letter to the Minister of Justice and Public Order, suggesting that the legislation regarding animal abuse be revised so that it acts as a deterrent to any would-be offender.
According to an official announcement, on the occasion of the increasing commission of offenses that cause harm and even death to animals, the Attorney General of the Republic sent a letter today to the Minister of Justice and Public Order with a suggestion that the amendment of the existing, prescribed penalties of article 323 of the Criminal Code, which concerns "Harm to animals", be considered.
The Attorney General of the Republic's recommendation to the competent Minister, it is noted, is to provide instructions for the preparation of a bill that provides for a penalty that will act as a deterrent to any would-be offender, while requesting, during the study of amending the existing legislation, the examination of the issue of provision and financial penalty in addition to imprisonment.
