The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Yiannis Panagiotou, will have a meeting with the social partners in the hotel industry in the early afternoon, following the rejection by the trade unions of the mediation proposal submitted by the Ministry as part of the efforts to conclude a collective agreement in the sector.
The meeting will take place at 15:30 at the office of the Minister, who in his statements to the Parliament emphasized that the positions of the trade unions are respected.
"I have already invited the employer and union side of the hotel industry for a meeting in my office today, so that we can discuss and co-decide on the next steps, with the aim of renewing the collective agreement of the sector and I am optimistic that through the cooperation of both sides we will become possible as the public interest provides, the need to ensure labor peace, normality and stability", said Mr. Panagiotou in his statements and added: "We will listen to the social partners again, dialogue is necessary and I expect that everyone will show the corresponding constructive mood".
Responding to questions about whether the conciliation proposal put forward by the Department of Industrial Relations could be amended, the Labor Minister declined to comment ahead of the meeting later today.
"There are issues on which there are still differences, there are opinions that concern broader issues and through this network I believe that it will be possible if all sides show the necessary constructive disposition to reach a positive result", he concluded.
