Averof: I salute the model, this is how I want the Cyprus of tomorrow

The importance of providing specialized services and the support that the state must provide for the benefit of citizens was highlighted by the President of the Democratic Alarm and candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Averof Neophytou, during his visit to the Karaiskaki Foundation on Monday.

Mr. Neophytos was accompanied by MP Savia Orfanidou and her colleague and president of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Efthimios Diplaros, while from the foundation's side the president Popi Kanaris and members of the board of directors were present.

In her statements after Mr. Neophytou's tour of the institution's premises and his meeting with staff members, Mrs. Kanari stated that she was very happy about the visit of the president of DISY, adding that this visit provides an opportunity to exchange views on the issues of the Karaiskakei Foundation in its development over the years, the future steps and the problems it faces in order to keep its valuable position in the world, both in hematology and pediatric oncology issues.

"We believe that Karaiskakio relies significantly on volunteerism, but also on the contribution of the public and our sponsors, but one important contribution, for which we thank it, is that of the Government. We want this long-term support to continue and be strengthened even more through institutionalization if possible", emphasized the president of the foundation, adding that the above issues would also be put before Mr. Neophytos.

For his part, the President of DISY thanked the management and administration of the institution for their hospitality today and congratulated them, together with their staff, for the excellent research and work they have been doing for years, through which, as he said , they honor their place first.

"I welcome the model, this is how I want the Cyprus of tomorrow, where specialization belongs to the specialists and Karaiskakio is a specialized center", continued Mr. Neophytou, adding that the state can, by purchasing services and supporting such specialized institutions, perform its role but also provides the highest quality services to the citizens who need them at a much lower cost. "This is a model that we need to implement more widely," he stressed.

"We win the bet of tomorrow for all issues through research, the correct recording of the data and the correct analysis", underlined the President of the DISY, further characterizing the creation of a common database with the participation of the specialized institutes as a matter of national priority of the country, but also of government agencies, which will multiply knowledge as well as the results of research and data analysis.

"As mandated representatives of the people, it is our duty to stand by the right institutions and the right people," concluded Mr. Neofytou.
